Today was 海の日 umi no hi (ocean/sea day?) and I guess that's why many places will hold their harbor festivals. Yesterday was our harbor festival, and today ASPAM had a minato matsuri as well. I went to watch my hula teacher and coworker perform Tahitian dance! Other people in the halau also performed hula. It was really nice to see polynesian dances being performed!
Before that, I went to cheer on a couple of my students at the Track and Field competition at the Prefectural level. A few weeks ago, I went to cheer them on at the district level, and they were able to move on to today's competition. One of my students is amazing! At the last competition, she hit a new Aomori record in the shot put event--over 14 meters! That's crazy! She placed first in the prefectural level and will advance to the regional level!
It was extremely hot everywhere! After that, Takako took me to a huge Costco-like supermarket again and we bought so much stuff! "We" as in she. We thought we would only need one basket, but we ended up filling two carts worth of stuff! There are a bunch of silly pictures below. She prefers the silly ones, the other ones she will say, "アップせばまいねよ！" which is tsugaru-ben for "you can't upload that!"
At home, I cooked and froze all of the scallops I received yesterday. It was a tiring day!
